Images of Weird Butterfly Taken at Appalachian Trail, West Virginia, 2007 June 23     I posted these images to a tourist forum and was told ( thanks, Alina Kelman ) that this butterfly is Luna Moth, one of the most unusual and beautiful of the North American butterflies. The size of the specimen that I have seen was ~10 cm ( ~4 inches )... Here is a good link to learn more about Luna Moths .
