TWO TOWERS

Trip to Canada; Toronto - Mississauga - Niagara Falls

May 6 - 8, 2005

         Hello !
This photo gallery is presented by me and my friends Simona and Ovidiu Vaduvescu whom I was visiting in Canada on May 6-8 in their home in city of Mississauga which is actually part of Great Toronto Area. The weather was beautiful, we really enjoyed the weekend and took a lot of images of Niagara Falls, Niagara Whirlpool, lake of Ontario, as well as city of Mississauga and city of Toronto.
In the beginning of May the spring is just coming to Toronto Area. Unlike Maryland where everthing is green in this season, the trees in Toronto Area are still naked then. Just some tiny leaves on the branches and blossoming flowers around...
Both cities of Niagara Falls and Toronto are marked with World's known observation towers ( Skylom Tower in Niagara Falls and CN Tower in Toronto ) providing a breathtaking view around. The observation tower in Toronto ( which is also a TV tower ) is the highest TV tower and observation deck in the World.
The images we took during our tree-days sightseeing are grouped in seven following groups :

Niagara Falls Niagara Falls is a World's known attraction. I believe no comments are needed. It is located on Niagara River connecting Erie and Ontario lakes.
Skylon Tower The Skylon Tower is located just on the embankment of Niagara River overlooking the Falls. At approximately 175m ( 520 feet ), the Skylon Tower is the tallest structure in Niagara. The tower was opened in the autumn of 1964. The yellow bug ( exterior glass encased elevator ) will bring you to the top observation deck or the revolving dining room. On a clear day a visitor can see a hundred miles.
Niagara Whirlpool Niagara Whirlpool is the place downriver the Falls where the river makes a 90-degree turn forming North America's largest series of standing waves.
The best way to see Niagara Whirlpool is from high overhead - aboard the world famous Niagara Whirlpool Aero Car. Suspended from sturdy cables, the Niagara Whirlpool Aero Car offers a wonderful view. A Spanish engineer designed and built it, Leonardo Torres Quevedo, the Aero Car has been operating since 1916.
Niagara Greenhouse Niagara Greenhouse is a botanic garden which is home to a plenty of tropical plants, reptiles and birds.
City of Toronto Toronto is a huge city located on the North coast of Ontario Lake. Its population is about 2.5 millions inhabitants. What seemed to me very funny ( or smart ? ) in Canada is that their road posters usually note not only the name of cities and distanve to them, but the populations as well. Another interesting thing is that Toronto is the only North American city where tramway system is still growing.
CN Tower Located in the Downtown Toronto CN Tower is the World's tallest building as well as Canada's most recognizable icon. At a height of 553m the tower is the centre of tourism in Toronto. Things to do in the tower include walking on glass floor, eating over 1000 ft above ground at the revolving 360 Restaurant, watching a movie about the construction of the CN tower and of course enjoying the view from two observation levels located at 342m ( main onservation level with the restaurant ) and 447m ( the skypod ) altitide. The tower was opened to the public in 1976.
Before that time, the TV Tower in Moscow ( built in 1967 ) remained the World's tallest TV tower and observation deck.
City of Mississauga City of Mississauga is located on the North coast of Ontario Lake and is actually a part of Great Toronto Area. The population of Mississauga is about 0.6 millions inhabitants.
